The 2015 Pan is in the books.
In the end, the two most important medals went to Alliance.
Bernardo Faria and Gabrielle Garcia confirmed their favoritism and beat their opponents in the finals.
First Gabi had another great duel with recent rival Mackenzie Dern.
As usual, Gabi controlled the pace of the match and worked to get her most used submission, the choke from side control.
This time, Mackenzie had no room to try a sweep, like he did at the 2015 European, but she still showed a lot of heart to defend Gabi’s attacks.
Eventually, Garcia was able to get the tap for another gold medal.
In the male open class final, Bernardo Faria also had the size advantage over Leandro Lo.
The match was close at first with Lo managing a good sweep, but around the 5-minute mark, Faria was able to pass guard and finish from the north-south position.
