Day 2 of the 2015 Pan, this Friday, had the open class divisions of the blue belt and purple belt as the high points in terms of excitement.
Alliance’s Nicholas Meregali repeated his 2014 performance and walked out of the Bren Events center with two gold medla at the purple belt.
Relenteless, the Brazilian heavyweight faced Isaque Bahiense at the male purple belt open class final and ended the matter with a triangle for the title.
Despite being teammates, the Alliance duo decided to fight for the gold medal.
Like in 2014, Meregali was the standout of the purple belt with two gold medals in two days.
In the female division, another title for Alliance.
Superheavy Tayane Araujo had a fierce battle with a brave Bianca Basílio for the open class gold medal.
In a all out war, the two women left the crowd trhilled during the six minutes of their match.
In the end, Tayane topped Bianca by two advantages (3-1) after a tie in points (2-2).
“Thanks God for the double gold. I know I have to improve a lot for the next competitions, but I gave all I got on this one,” wrote Tayane in her Instagram page.
In the blue belt division, Cicero Costha’s Gustavo Batista ruled over the open class division.
The final match was against Alliance’s Fabio Alano and two near passes were enough for the 2-0 edge in advantages that earned him the gold medal.
“I just want to thank God and also all of those who help me and believe in me,” said Gustavo after the triumph.
Team Lloyd Irvin had total control over the female blue belt open class final.
Tammates Vanessa Griffin and Micheli Weltin left all opponents behind to reach the gold medal match.
A ladies agreement decided that the medal should be with Weltin.
Day 3 starts this Saturday with the adult black belt open class for men and women starting at 3:30PM.
