The 2018 IBJJF World Championship is really close now. The action will start taking place at Long Beach’s Walter Pyramid this Wednesday.
The adult black-belts will start competing on Saturday, but the brackets the eventual champions will get through have already been defined by the federation.
While many athletes look forward to such lists to better prepare for their debuts, that’s not a unanimous approach. “I haven’t seen them and I don’t know whether I will,” Victor Honório told us. “The Worlds will be war from the first match, and I’m sure everyone is tough, but that’s about it. I’ll try to carve my space, regardless of who’s thrown at me.”
In Victor’s division, that of ultra-heavyweights, names like Marcus Buchecha, Antônio Braga Neto, João Gabriel Rocha and Yuri Simões can be described as big challenges for the young black-belt.
