Jason Miller (24w-7l) is in Brazil on a tour of the country’s big teams as part of a campaign for the new EA Sports videogame. The Strikeforce and Dream fighter brushed up on his Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra and also trained hard with the gangs at Gordo-Evolve, Xgym, Nova União, and Nobre Arte. This Saturday was Miller’s turn to check out Brazilian Top Team. Invited by team coach Murilo Bustamante, GRACIEMAG.com decided to check it out up close.
After wandering around Rio de Janeiro and having countless glasses of açaí, Miller tried out his Português. Laid back and friendly, quite unlike the bad boy image he’s created for himself in the ring, he was well received by Bustamante and his students.
He practiced positions with Milton Vieira, did some grappling and showed that his submission win over Kazushi Sakuraba in his last fight was no fluke. He also practiced takedowns with Rousimar Toquinho, of whom he says he is a fan. “I like him, he’s all compact,” he said, laughing.
In the video below, besides all the action from his visit to the BTT, Miller teaches an arm-triangle variation that is among his favorite moves. Also check out the photos from the training session, further below:
