The weight-in for Bitetti Combat 8 “100 years of the Corinthians” gathered fighters, press, and curious onlookers at São Paulo’s Hotel Tryp. With all the fighters on the card in attendance, there was no lack of provocations. The event will take place this Saturday starting at 7 pm, in the São Jorge Park gymnasium.
Paul Filho’s opponent, Yuki Sasaki, isn’t afraid of the Brazilian. The seasoned fighter expects to rain on local fans’ parade.
It’s an honor to fight in Brazil, where it all started. Paulão is a great fighter, a strong opponent, bu of course, I’m here to win. I know he has good Jiu-Jitsu, but I train grappling too and it’s nothing new to me, it’s quite normal,” warns the fighter accompanied by ADCC champion Kikuta Sanae and Thiago Jambo’s opponent, Eiji Ishikaua.
Cristiano Marcello showed up lean and made weight, Glover Teixeira had a staredown with Daniel Tabera, one of Europe’s highest ranking fighters, and the U.S.A.’s Jordan Smith showed he’s in great shape to face Mario Soldado. But things became tense between Jorge Macaco student Flavio Álvaro and Viscardi Andrade, a Ryan Gracie student.
“I’ll give my life in this fight,” said Flavio Álvaro afterwards.
