In 2011, Rodolfo Vieira had his golden year, winning three major tournaments in two months: the Pan, WPJJC and the Worlds.
In Long Beach, he won double gold and one of his matches was against Marcus Buchecha, in the open class semifinal.
Recently promoted to the black belt at that moment, Buchecha still lacked the fine tuning and the experience to compete in the highest level.
Later on, he talked about that match in a exclusive interview to GRACIEMAG #208.
The defeat by submission even made him think of quitting the competition circuit.
Let’s watch the match.
One year later, things were much different and Buchecha was a completely different fighter.
They met again at the quarterfinals of the open class.
In the same exclusive interview, Buchecha revealed that he asked his then Professor Rodrigo Cavaca to put him in the same bracket as Rodolfo, so they could fight early on.
That was exactly what happened and you can see what went down in one of the most thrilling matches of all times.
So, which one is your favorite?
