The Rio BJJ Pro, an event that pays out prize money from blue to black belt, was held last weekend at Tijuca Tennis Club in Rio de Janeiro. On Saturday the absolute contests for the colored belts were held. Sunday saw the black-belts take the stage.
There was no black belt open class; each category had a prize pool, with top prize being R$ 4,000, and R$ 1,000 for silver. Female champions won R$ 1,500 each.
At featherweight, Isaque Paiva (Saikoo) got the gold as he beat Hiago George (Cícero Costha). Middleweight Gabriel Rollo (Checkmat) beat Luan Carvalho (Nova União) for the top spot in his division.
Heavyweight Patrick Gáudio (GFTeam) was victorious over Dimitrius Souza (Alliance), and ultra-heavyweight Victor Honório (GFTeam) bested Gabriel Fedor (Alliance).
In the women’s open, Tayane Porfírio beat Beatriz Mesquita (Gracie Humaitá) at the end.
