The search for the best fighter in the Northeast continues with the second edition of the Kasai Elite Grappling Championships. The tournament looks to bring amateur fighters into the pro division – the winner will fight at the upcoming Kasai Pro 3, happening this August 18 at Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom.
This time the winner came from Marcelo Garcia’s camp – Matheus Lutes, who had an epic battle in the semifinals with Alex Oliveira from Renzo Gracie NY. In the end he quoted Marcelo Garcia’s motto of always being ready to fight, whether gi or no gi. Well, he was ready. We will be seeing more of him at the Pro event for sure.
The end of the Advanced No-Gi Bracket was:
1. Matheus Lutes (Alliance Marcelo Garcia)
2. Jason Rau (Serra Bjj)
3. Enrique Galarza (Renzo Gracie NY)
3. Alex Luis De Oliveira (Renzo Gracie NY)
(Full results here.)
On the teams front, the overall winner was Renzo Gracie NY, followed by Renzo Gracie Jersey City and Unity.
