The organizers of Gracie Pro have sprung a new surprise with the announcement of a clash of veterans. Now, as well as Gilbert Durinho vs. Clark Gracie, the September 30 event will feature Fernando Tererê vs. Raphael Abi-Rihan when it lands in Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanãzinho stadium.
A two-time world champion (2000 and 2003), Tererê is known worldwide. With his charisma and powerful takedowns, he won all sorts of titles and helped train multiple jiu-jitsu greats, like André Galvão, Rubens Cobrinha, Alan Finfou and Jackson Sousa.
Raphael Abi-Rihan is a 2007 European champion, a Brazilian champion in the gi and, more recently, a winner at the IBJJF’s World Master Championship. A feared athlete also in no-gi, he comes from the Carlson Gracie lineage, having studied under Luís Manimal.
