Manuel Ribamar started his 2019-20 season in the best way possible, winning two superfights. First, he beat Gabriel Almeida at Fight2Win. Last week, he went to Houston at Third Coast Grappling to battle Hunter Newton in a tough matchup. But as always, he found a way to win.
After scoring a draw on the normal time, Ribamar worked well to pass Hunter’s guard at the Golden Time and won the fight. He spoke about his win, saying that he keeps impressing himself on how fast he’s improving his game.
“I keep impressing myself about how I am getting better. The key moment of the fight was when I felt that I was locked in a position and to explode with a lot of heart to score the final point. That’s how I passed his guard. God has been giving more strength and I keep getting better.”
Beating Hunter Newton not only gave Ribamar more and more respect, but also made him a good money as the prize for the win. But he already have plans to invest his money on improving his training structure and helping his teammates from Rodrigo Pinheiro’s gym.
“Me and my wife are planning what will be our next investment outside of the BJJ world but we are motivated with all that God prepared for our careers. For now I want to focus on our career and help my teammates.”
