With 28 MMA bouts and zero losses, Khabib Nurmagomedov last Saturday solidified his name among the strongest lightweights in the history of the sport. He defended his UFC title for the second time, at UFC Abu Dhabi, and walked away having notched another good-looking submission win.
Khabib’s opponent was Dustin Poirier, the interim champion. Khabib dominated round 1, but took a scare in round 2 when Poirier landed a hard blow. Khabib recovered, though, and came back hungry to finish the fight. He took the back and sank the winning rear naked choke.
