Around 1,500 spectators crowded the Pacaembu gymnasium in São Paulo this Saturday for the 35th installment of Jungle Fight, and they weren’t let down.
This time around the promotion featured a mini light heavyweight GP, the final of which will take place January 21 in Rio de Janeiro. The first spot in the final was conquered by Argentina’s Emiliano Sordy, who overcame Bruno Capelosa (Gracie Fusion/Veras TK) 34 seconds into the first round via guillotine-choke submission. “My strategy was to win by knockout but I managed to sink the hold and win quickly,” Sordy would say.
To cap off the evening and determine who the Brazilian representative in the January 2012 Brazil versus Argentina showdown, Kleber “Orgulho” (Champions Team) defeated João Paulo (Mix Fighting) in the second round via referee stoppage. “Now my mission is to not let this belt leave the country,” remarked the fighter.
