Jon Jones finally has a new opponent.
Brazil’s Victor Belfort agreed to face the light heavyweight champion in a title fight at UFC152 in Toronto, Canada.
Jones was originally scheduled to fight Dan Henderson this next September 1 at UFC 151.
A knee ligament injury sustained by Hendo during training made the bout impossible.
Dana White then proposed Jones face MMA’s loudmouth Chael Sonnen, but Bones said no.
Thus, UFC 151 was cancelled and White spouted some unpleasant things about Jones and his coach Greg Jackson.
The solution was to schedule a title bout between Lyoto Machida and Jon Jones for September 22, but the Brazilian did not agree.
So, Victor Belfort stepped in and accepted a fight with the champion.
It should be a good one!
