The month of October has four competition- and challenge-packed weekends in store for you. From Long Beach to Tokyo, Miami to London, practitioners have more than their fair share of opportunities to compete and learn.
The first major tournament under the IBJJF banner is the Master & Senior Worlds, which goes down this weekend in Long Beach, California. Next up is the Asian Open, set of the 13th and 14th in the Japanese capital.
After that, there’s the London Open and European No-Gi Championship, both to take place in the English capital, on the 20th and 21st, respectively. Still on the 20th, the IBJJF is promoting the Miami Open, in Florida.

For a taste of the excitement the competitions bring, here’s a look back JT Torres’s performance at the 2008 Asian Open. Still a brown belt at the time, the Lloyd Irvin pupil swept the competition and won both the lightweight and absolute divisions. In the video below, he plays a tight game and doesn’t give his opponent an inch, like the good fighters do. Check it out!
