ADCC ranking: Garcia shoots ahead, Zé Mario runner-up, Galvão up 19 places

You don’t just amass four titles at wait, two runners-up placements (one at wait and the other in the absolute), a bronze at open weight, as well as the titles of most technical athlete and star of the best match of the event without deserving it.

Such glorious achievements have catapulted Marcelo Garcia to being the undisputed leader of the GRACIEMAG ADCC male athletes ranking. With the points from 2011 tallied up, the Minas Gerais native living in Manhattan brought his point count to three digits, with 109 points, 18 ahead of second place.

And it is in the runner-up slot that we see a significant change. The 15 points brought in by the supermatch win over Renzo Gracie secured Zé Mário Sperry second place, surpassing another legend of the ADCC, Mark Kerr. Now Renzo added nine points and moved from 22nd to 18th place.

André Galvão too caught the lift. The big name of event that just ended a little over a week ago in Nottingham, England, earned 37 points and went from 32nd to 13th.

The same goes for Bráulio Estima, Xande Ribeiro and Ronaldo Jacaré. Bráulio now figures in fifth. Xande passed his brother Saulo and Roger Gracie, jumping from 12th to 8th place. Jacaré, with nine points from his loss in the supermatch, leapt from 9th to 7th.

Brazilians maintain their dominance of the ranking, with 17 of the top 20. Only Kerr in third, Jeff Monson in 10th, and Dean Lister, who went from 21st to 17th, keep the South Americans from making a clean sweep.
