He’s already a registered member of the republican party. Now all Chael Sonnen has to do is run for office at the recommendation of his old opponents.
In an interview published on Monday, former middleweight champion Anderson Silva told Metro that he feels Sonnen is an ideal candidate to run for the Presidency of the United States of America.
“This guy will be the next President of the United States,” Silva said while laughing. “He’s smart, political, knows how to promote himself.”
Silva, of course, was being facetious, but he did go on to explain that Sonnen, who lost two fights to Silva when the Brazilian held the 185-pound UFC title, has some great traits to market himself. It’s traits like these that separate Sonnen from the rest of the pack of UFC fighters, according to Silva, and it speaks to the American fighter’s high level of intelligence.
“He’s not an athlete with great results, but he knows how to promote himself. He knows how to use the UFC, and that’s something many other athletes [can’t do]. He’s very intelligent.”
The next U.S. presidential election takes place in 2016, but put don’t your money on Sonnen’s name being on the ballot.
