Vitor Terra, a teacher at Gracie Terra in Rio de Janeiro, shows here a valuable transition from the omoplata straight to the back, with an option to finish on the arm.
In the lesson, Vitor first stresses the importance of not leaving any room for your opponent. Then, before he squeezes the arm, he takes a step outward and throws his leg over his opponent’s back, with hooks practically in place for scoring.
But there’s more. Vitor demonstrates an option for finishing on the arm that is left over from the transition. You just have to trap that arm under your armpit, take a little step forward and twist the joint.
