Light featherweight from CheckMat Michelle Nicolini took a risk and came up big. She vewntured into the medium heavyweight / brown and black belt division and with her “bizarre guard” managed to tame Penny Thomas and beat 2009’s champion on advantage points.
“Penny is really flexible and stronger than I am; it was great. Now I’m going to hit the barbecue,” said the diminutive champion after one of the great matches of the championship. Congratulations, girls!
