Clark Gracie may not have made it to the top of the podium at the New York Open last Saturday, but he did demonstrate a quality common to Jiu-Jitsu players: he never gave up. And there’s another lesson that could also apply in this case: “Try to finish what you started.”
As we’re taught in Jiu-Jitsu on a daily basis, a black belt is a white belt who never gave up. And that’s what the member of the family with the most gentle-art tradition did in sinking an omoplata on Ken Primola and not abandoning the hold until he got what he wanted, despite the hardships.
