The news cropped up this evening, and ten minutes ago UFC president Dana White confirmed via twitter, short and blunt: “Vitor is out its true”.
A shoulder injury is the culprit in keeping the challenger to the organization’s middleweight title from facing champion Anderson Silva at the 5-star UFC event in Abu Dhabi. Now Anderson awaits a new adversary – Chael Sonnen and Demian Maia are in line, but they just fought at February’s UFC 109.
The first UFC in the Middle East will be held in an open-air stadium in Abu Dhabi. Another fight was announced this week, making the card definitively international, for the presence of England’s Mustapha Al-Turk, who would have fought Rolles Gracie at UFC 109.
