Jiu-Jitsu Escapes
Jiu-Jitsu’s businessman and brown belt, Renato Santos has been training in the sport for 20 years and nowadays he sees differently how to make a long-term investment, focused on helping professional athletes in their careers.
In parallel to the investment in professional Jiu-Jitsu with his gi brand (Braus Fight), Renato commands a charity program named “Rolling for a reason”, which helps children, adolescents and adults around Australia, Brazil and the USA.
Today, at age 32, Renato explains his vision and explains how he enjoys investing in Jiu-Jitsu, for long-term growth. In a competitive setting of entrepreneurship, he also tells how he intends to raise the level of Jiu-Jitsu worldwide.
“The Jiu-Jitsu industry is very competitive. There are numerous brands in the market of very good quality and also many high level athletes.
However, the Braus company sees Jiu-Jitsu in a different way, and this is reflected directly in the way we work. As a brand, we have never had an interest in “paying” a big name just to sell products. I need to inspire, change lives. My biggest goal is to change the way the industry runs, through honest work and valuable partnerships, so that we can really help athletes build a future and not just win medals” says Renato, who trains Jiu-Jitsu, in Australia, with Professor Gui Neves.
Renato also takes the opportunity to tell us how his gi company was born and his greatest achievements as an entrepreneur so far.
“Braus was born out of a dream, where I want to live for Jiu-Jitsu and change lives. I never had the opportunity to be an athlete, it was then that I saw the space in the market and realized that I could realize my dream in another way. That’s how Braus was born” says Renato.
“We have two great achievements in which we are extremely proud. The first is the creation of the charity arm of Braus, the “Rolling for a Reason” and the second is to help Levi Jones-Leary as a professional athlete. We met Levi when he was only 15 years old and had a white belt around his waist. He had dropped out of school to follow the dream of becoming world champion as a black belt. He’s on the way and we’re very proud for having helped him and for being part of that story. “
