Three months after ending his competitive BJJ career with a historic win over Marcus Buchecha, Roger Gracie has now announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.
There was the expectation that Roger would now gear up to defend the light heavyweight ONE FC belt he won in May 2016, but the 36-year-old felt differently. “I decided to stop because I didn’t think MMA was motivating me enough to keep dedicating myself 100 percent to an athlete’s life,” he recently told MMA Fighting.
A ten-time IBJJF world champion, Roger will continue on as a BJJ teacher and has plans to grow further with his team, which is based in London, as well as Roger TV, a project through which he teaches some of his finest techniques online.
