ADCC organizers have announced another superfight for this year’s event, scheduled to run September 22 through 24 in Finland. With the exit of ATT leader Ricardo Libório, who got injured, Bellator’s Chael Sonnen will now take on former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
A black-belt under Ricardo Pires, Frank Mir achieved nine out of his 29 wins in MMA via submission — with some serious bragging rights for having beat Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira in this fashion.
A former contender to the UFC’s middleweight and light heavyweight belts, Sonnen has done grappling matches with André Galvão, Renato Babalú and Michael Bisping.
ADCC 2017 will also feature Renzo Gracie vs. Matt Hughes, as well as André Galvão against Claudio Calasans, the sitting absolute ADCC champion.
