Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will face Charles Oliveira at UFC 162 in Las Vegas, UFC officials announced on Thursday.
The featherweight match-up will be part of the main card on Pay-Per-View, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden arena on July 6.
Edgar (15-4-1) last saw action at UFC 156, where he lost his bid for the promotion’s featherweight title against champion Jose Aldo. The loss marked his third in a row, the two previous coming against current lightweight champ Benson Henderson, the man who took Edgar’s 155-pound title in their first fight.
Oliveira (16-3, 1 N.C.) comes off a loss to Cub Swanson at UFC 152 last September. He was on a two-fight win streak before the Swanson loss, and is currently 2-1 since dropping from lightweight to featherweight last year.
Swanson will also be on the UFC 162 card. A featherweight bout between him and Dennis Siver has been tabbed for the Vegas Pay-Per-View, according to company officials.
