Last Saturday, our photographer John Lamonica went to get the inside scoop on an inauguration party showing further signs of Jiu-Jitsu’s might in the USA – in California, to be exact. At the grand opening of Rômulo Barral’s new academy, GB Northridge, more than a hundred students and professors gathered for a major-scale Jiu-Jitsu class.
“The seminar lasted around an hour and a half, with black belts teaching a number of positions. Then Rômulo rolled with his teacher teammates and demonstrated a number of techniques,” recounted Lamonica. “There was a laughable moment when Robert Tussa broke out in celebration, joking, ‘I finally swept Rômulo!’”
The festivities wrapped up with everyone holding an açaí toast. Cheers!
