José Correa Gymnasium, famous for hosting the biggest BJJ tournaments in São Paulo, had three days of nonstop action starting last Friday with another edition of the IBJJF’s South American Championship.
Two well-known names in the international scene ended up stealing the spotlight with double gold: Horlando Monteiro, of GD Jiu-Jitsu, and Jessica Flowers, of Gracie Barra.
Horlando first took down the medium heavyweight division as he beat Eric de Souza (Constrictor). Then, in the absolute, he defeated heavyweight Hygor Silva (Cícero Costha).
After closing out the super-heavyweight podium with Joaquina Neta for Gracie Barra, Jessica nabbed the absolute title in a duel with Sabatha Laís (Ryan Gracie).
