Ronaldo Jacaré successfully defended his Strikeforce middleweight belt this Saturday in California against Robbie Lawler. Starting in the second round, the black belt let his ground game show through with first-rate Jiu-Jitsu. The result was a conclusive rear-naked choke in the third round.
“I came prepared for everything and to use my Jiu-Jitsu. He’s a tough guy and has a good ground game,” said Jaca.
At the end of the first round he had a scare: the champion suffered a knockdown.
“I really felt it land,” he said with a chuckle, “but I said: I’m going to get back out there and beat this guy up!” he added.
And so he did. Now, the fighter, who will face Braúlio Estima in the superfight at the ADCC in London, wants further challenges.
“I want to fight again soon, but I don’t know when. I love my job and Strikeforce is my boss,” he said in finishing.
