Anyone who reads GRACIEMAG and CHOKE already knows plenty about the life of the UFC featherweight champion, José Aldo. Now, though, you’ll get to see the whole story of his life’s struggle in the movie theater.
José Aldo’s life is going to be made into a movie. Filming is set to begin in early 2012, with the premier planned for the end of the same year. The full-length film will be directed by Afonso Poyart and produced by Caco Souza and the parts are already being cast. Actor Jonathan Haagensen, who came to fame in Brazil for his part in the movie “City of God”, is the one most likely to fill the starring role.
“I’m a big MMA fan. The UFC is like a Flamengo (soccer team) game to me; I don’t miss one. I’m training boxing and Jiu-Jitsu, so I’m really excited about it. It’s a really good time to make a movie on the subject. Brazilians are the best at MMA, the new samurais of the 21st century, and it would be awesome to play him,” remarked Haagensen on the UOL website.
Other actors tipped to be in the film are Deborah Secco, Priscila Fantin and Fernanda Paes Leme.
