Former featherweight title holder of the UFC and WEC, and current interim UFC champion, José Aldo no longer wants to be a part of the UFC. He wishes to part ways with the organization for good and retire from mixed martial arts. He made the announcement soon after the UFC confirmed a fight between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez for the Nov. 12 event in New York. The news first broke on Combate.com, and soon afterward the fighter was interviewed live on “Revista Combate,” detailing the situation:
“I didn’t even want to fight MMA any longer; it got to a point where I was at my limit. I talked to Dedé (Pederneiras), and he convinced me to continue. I fought Frankie Edgar and dedicated the win to him. If they offer anything, to me, it’s not a matter of money — I can’t do it anymore. If Dana likes me, I only ask him to let me go normally; I don’t want a beef with anybody. I want to go out the way I came in. If they offered me millions, they can keep them. Sorry about the expression, but I’m not a whore to go and sell myself. I’m a man. My dad made me like this,” he said.
