The IBJJF just announced that the 2015 Las Vegas Spring Open has a new date.
Dute to the scheduling of the boxing super-match Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, the rates for hotel rooms skyrocketed for the weekend of May 2.
The new date is May 9, at the same location.
Here’s the official statement by the IBJJF:
Las Vegas Spring Open transferred to May 9th, same location!
Due to the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight recently announced and scheduled for May 2nd in Las Vegas, the hotel prices for that weekend (5/2-5/3) increased to an average of $500 USD a night.
This has made it very difficult for the BJJ community to find reasonable travel arrangements to compete at the Las Vegas Spring Open previously booked for the same weekend.
We received numerous requests from athletes who could not register for the event because they did not find an affordable hotel and many athletes registered are requesting to withdraw from the event.
