The paths of Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate seemed destined to cross.
Rousey, the defending UFC women’s champion, is one of the coaches for season 18 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and was to face Cat Zingano, who defeated Miesha Tate last month.
Yesterday, however, it was announced that Zingano suffered a knee injury during training and cannot face the Rousey or participate in the reality show. In her place, Rousey’s rival Tate will coach the show and face the UFC champion in a match tentatively-scheduled for later this year.
The two are old enemies, and fought for the Strikeforce belt in March 2012. On the occasion, the Olympic medalist took the best with one of her famous armbars and kept her undefeated record.
The season finale for the show is scheduled for this September.
