Dana White confirmed Vitor Belfort will be the next to face Anderson Silva, undefeated in his thirteen UFC fights, for the middleweight belt. Now it’s Belfort’s turn to talk up the fight:
Now it’s all set. The fight was scheduled for January 1st here in Las Vegas, the UFC’s New Year’s event. For sure it will be the New Year’s with the most Brazilians in Las Vegas. Everyone’s invited,” he told the Esportes.r7.com website.
Despite his having been preparing for Yushin Okami, a bout that would have taken place at the November 13 UFC 122 show, Belfort loved the swap, and there’s still time for him to change his training routine.
“There’s plenty of time till the fight still. Of course the strategy will be revamped, but it couldn’t be better. I’m going to fight in Las Vegas, where I live; I won’t need to travel anywhere. And better still, it will be a fight for the belt, a dream come true.”
He’ll be the toughest one so far, but I’ll be ready,” Belfort
In addressing the subject of his opponent, considered the best fighter in the world at present, Vitor is respectful. He is, however, very confident, which one would expect from someone dubbed the “Phenom” so young.
“He’ll be the toughest one yet, as will the opponent after him. The next opponent is always the toughest. I have train all the time, as much as possible. When the time comes we’ll know what will happen, but I’ll show up prepared.”
