Before challenging George St-Pierre for the welterweight title at UFC 100, Thiago “Pitbull” Alves was riding a seven-fight winning streak. Before that, though, he was knocked out by Jon Fitch in 2006. He’s been hung up about it ever since, and will have a shot at revenge at UFC 117 this coming August 7.
“I’m going to hunt him down and knock him out. I know Fitch is trying to improve his game and become a more exciting fighter, but I don’t think he’ll do so against me. I’m going to push the pace and hurt him in every situation. I know he’s tough, but August 7 will be my night. I’m going to knock him out,” he said confidently, in an interview with Fighters Only magazine.
