After seeing two teammates defeated (Ediane India and Buscapé) prior to his challenge at Bitetti Combat 6, against Julio Cesar Merenda, the young fighter was undeterred and got a good win in the octagon.
“It’s never nice to see a friend from training lose, but that’s part of the game. I tried to stay focused on my fight,” he told GRACIEMAG.com.
Now unbeaten in five matches, the fighter was pleased to appear for the first time before his home crowd, in Brasilia.
“It was really great. A lot of first-rate guys were there, like Gesias Cavalcante, who was here today, and Minotauro, who has never fought MMA in Brazil. They reached a point in their careers where events here could no longer afford them. I was happy for this opportunity that Amaury and Fernando gave me to fight here, especially in Brasilia,” he celebrated.
The solid showing, according to him, was due to the work done at the ATT in Florida.
“I have no complaints. I’m training with people like Gesias, Jorge Santiago and Parrumpinha, among many others. All these guys behind me gives me a great deal of support. Just train hard and do serious work, and the results will come.”
After his triumph at BC6, broadcast around the world via the internet, Yuri is awaiting further opportunities.
“Now I’ll rest and start training again gradually. I’m waiting on new chances and will keep on working,” he said in finishing.
