The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo is partnering up with the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), and Long Beach, California, will become a gentle-art hotbed come Saturday, May 12, 2012, as fans and fighters across the United States and around the world make their way to the Long Beach Convention Center for all things Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
One of the highlights at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo will be the tournament headed up by the IBJJF. According to Renzo Gracie, President of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo, “We are excited to hold a tournament along with the IBJJF, which will be a great opportunity to see some of the sport’s best and most promising new fighters.”
Created by Carlos Gracie Jr., the IBJJF officially represents Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu around the world. Their goals are to organize and regulate the sport internationally. The IBJJF is also actively involved in promoting tournaments that are crucial to the technical evolution of the sport and its popularization. One of the best examples is the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship (Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu), held annually in Long Beach, California.
In addition to the tournament, the Expo will be an opportunity to network, sell and purchase the best in BJJ gear, participate in free seminars, Q&A, autograph sessions, and get up close and personal with some of the most recognized names in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, including Renzo Gracie, André Galvão, Robert Drysdale, Rodrigo Comprido, Braúlio Estima, Roger Gracie, among others.
