In a defense of his welterweight belt, Tyron Woodley successfully used his explosive physical power to take down Darren Till in the main event of UFC 228, held last Saturday. With a surgical knockdown, Woodley found himself on top of Till, eventually winning via choke.
With a well-adjusted hand-triangle, Woodley secured not just the world title, but also the black belt in BJJ. His impressive ground game got to where it is today with the influence of some great teachers, at least one of whom is well known for his no-gi style.
Marcelinho Garcia, thought of by many as one of the strongest athletes to have ever fought no-gi BJJ, was once recruited by Woodley to prepare him for UFC 205, in November 2016. A training session involving the MMA champion and the BJJ champion made the rounds, and you can watch their movement in the following video.
