Held last week, between the 17th and 19th of December, the IBJJF’s Master Worlds welcomed a legion of experienced fighters into the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida. And some well-known names proved again why it is that they’re known.
In the master 4 age group, for example, none shone brighter than Roberto Godoi, the leader of G13BJJ. He ended up taking home two gold medals. First he secured the top spot in the super-heavy division as he defeated Marcos “Parrumpinha” da Matta. Then Godoi went into the absolute, where he beat Jair Lourenço in the semifinals and Tomas Kucera in the final. Click here to see Godoi’s best moves from the Master Worlds.
In the other black-belt divisions — aside from Gregor Gracie’s triumph in the master 1 group — we had Josh Hinger beating Rafael Formiga in the master 2, Viktor Doria and Chad Fieldds closing ranks twice for Fight Sports in the master 3, and Wellington Megaton winning the lightweight and absolute titles in the master 5.
