One of the most highly anticipated rematches in recent MMA history is finally scheduled. Five years after their bout at now-defunct Strikeforce, Luke Rokchold and Ronaldo Jacaré are set to headline UFC Fight Night 101, slated for Nov. 26 in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2011, Jacaré was Strikeforce’s middleweight champion, but he wound up defeated in controversial fashion as the judges gave the nod to Rockhold. Upon the end of Strikeforce, they were both hired by the UFC.
Jacaré won nine out of his last ten bouts and comes off a devastating win over Vitor Belfort. The Brazilian expected to get a title shot, but Dan Henderson was picked in his stead to face champion Michael Bisping.
Rockhold has a record of 15 wins and just three losses. And his last one was the Californian’s most painful one — a defeated to England’s Michael Bisping that cost him the middleweight belt.
The winner must get a new shot at the belt. This is the only match announced for UFC Australia so far.
