Submission Underground, the no-gi organization led by Chael Sonnen, reached its fourth installment last night in Portland, with four submission-only superfights featuring MMA and BJJ stars. The main event saw former UFC fighter Jake Shields defeat Dillon Danis, who coaches Conor McGregor, via fastest escape time over the three rounds. After the fight, which went into overtime, Shields sent out a grappling challenge to former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Another match saw Paulo Miyao defeat former UFC contender Urijah Faber. Myiao worked his guard game and sought Faber’s back the whole time. After overtime, Miyao was deemed the winner via escaping the quickest over three rounds.
Lightweight UFC fighter Gilbert “Durinho” Burns beat John Combs in round 1 with a rear naked choke, and Nate Orchard beat Michael Perez in overtime via fastest escape time after three rounds.
