The Copa Pódio, scheduled December 17th, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, sufered today its first hit. Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes (Soul Fighters) informed the event that due to an injury sustained during practice he will not be able to compete. The lightweight Grand Prix is looking for a substitute.
“We waited for 48 hours for the Medical statement saying that Tanquinho would not be able to compete. I am very upset, once Tanquinho was not only a favorite to the title, but also is a great guy”, said today Jeferson Maycá, one of the event’s prmoters.
He added: “Tanquinho’s spot is still open for another Soul Fighter’s athlete. The five academies best ranked at the lightweight GP will get an place at the upcoming middleweight GP”.
