Why go to an Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes seminar in California? – GRACIEMAG.com asks Professor Claudio França, who hosts Saturday’s technique clinic. It’s simple, he replies: “Tanquinho is one of the most technical guys around now, he’s good people and is liked by everyone in Jiu-Jitsu. I feel it will be a success.” Visit www.claudiofrancabjj.com to sign up.
The seminar will take place May 29 from 1 to 3 pm at França’s academy in Santa Cruz, California. Tanquinho, too, is excited about it: “After the seminar it will be all about going at it at the Worlds!” says the lightweight, who won bronze at this month’s Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He is now already on Californian soil.
He witnessed up close the preparations of Claudio’s students for the coming event. França now counts 500 students in the Golden State. Claudio França’s academy should take 20 athletes to the Worlds 2010, during the first week of June in Long Beach.
Then, the teacher’s plans are already set in stone. He will move right into preparations for the 15th US Open, a traditional American event that will be held between the 15th and 17th of October.
