August “Tanquinho” Mendes is always a hard nut to crack in the lightweight division, where he tends to score with medals. However, this coming weekend at the World Pro the black belt will be mixing it up in another weight group.
“The first battle will be to make weight. I decided to drop down a division for this event – I’m going in at 65 kg. I hope I can make it!” he announced over Twitter (@tanquinhojj).
So Tanquinho will be another competitor looking to try and put the brakes on the Atos freight train, composed of Bruno Frazatto, Eduardo Ramos, and brothers Rafael and Guilherme Mendes.
Speaking of the Mendeses, what if there’s a rematch of the last Brazilia Nationals, where the Soul Fighter beat Guilherme? A matchup with Rafael would be a great bout too, of course – not taking anything away from the other stalwart competitors signed up in the division.
So stay tuned to GRACIEMAG.com to keep up with what transpires in the under-65-kg division, promising to keep fans at the edge of their seats.
