In June, his students did great at the 2010 NSW Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu State championship.
In a great display of technique and toughness, the athletes from Paulo Tavares academy, representing the Central Coast, worked their way to victory, capturing the 2010 NSW Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu state title.
The highlights were the dominant performances from Chase Price, 11, Anthony Druitt, a 41-year-old engineer and father of two who came up with the gold after defeating three opponents in a row, Cooper, 6, John Misfud, a 44-year-old software programmer, Paul Byrnes, a 46 year-old plumber and his son Ben Byrnes, 15, receiving silver medals after long and hard-fought battles, David Crosio, 14, and Paul Dindy, 14, receiving bronze.
With the results, the Gracie Sydney Association captured first place.
The event gathered 400 athletes. PTA was present with 12 competitors and conquered 8 medals (2 golds, 4 silver, 2 bronze).
