Renzo Gracie will have his hands full this Saturday at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, when he faces former champion Matt Hughes. Favored on the betting lines, Hughes, who has over 50 fights on his record (44w, 7l), has only lost five of his 21 fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“I’ve always thought about Renzo, especially after he beat Pat Miletich (Hughes’s former coach). So Renzo and I have a bit of history. We met some years back and got along well, but he beat my coach, and I beat his student (Matt Serra) and his cousin (Royce Gracie), who carries his last name. So I’m sure we’re both anxious to get in the cage and show who will be the one to dominate. There’s history and the fans will see a good fight,” says Hughes.
“I’ve said it since the beginning: if you want to fight the best Gracie, you have to fight Renzo, and I continue to say it. He’s the best one carrying that last name,” he added on the UFC website.
