BJJ world champion André Galvão had a great showing at Metamoris 4, this Saturday.
He defeated UFC star Chael Sonnen with a choke from the back in the main event.
Do you know that was not the first time Galvão fought a wrestler who would later on have a great career in the UFC?
In 2009, Andre went to compete at the ADCC world championship, in Barcelona, Spain.
There, in the -88kg quarterfinals he was put against an upcoming talent from the USA, a certain Chris Weidman.
In Spain, Galvão had his chances, but was unable to get the submission, winning by points.
Curiously, years later, when Anderson Silva was set to face Weidman in the UFC, Galvão was in the Spider’s training crew.
