Ronda Rousey did not keep her promise.
Before the fight, she said on several interviews that she was going to punish Bethe Correia for a long time before finishing the fight.
Turns out, she didn’t and in only 34s Correia was knocked out face first on the ground.
After a barrage of punches, a right hand to the temple finished the opponent.
After the fight, Ronda said her strategy was to come on with a overwhelming beginning so Bethe would be forced to clinch.
“I wanted to do that, but you guys saw what happened,” joked Ronda afterwards.
The bantamweight champion had another message for her future opponents: “I hope people don’t involve my family anymore.”
She was referring to Correia’s unfortunate remarks saying Ronda used her father’s suicide for self-promotion.
Rousey’s next opponent will be long-time rival Miesha Tate, in the third time they fight.
In the co-main event of the evening, Mauricio Shogun repeated the same result of 10 years ago against Rogério Nogueira with a unanimous decision win.
In the two TUF Brazil finals, Glaico França caught Fernando Bruno with a rear-naked choke on the third round for the lightweight title.
In the other final, Reginaldo Vieira defeated Dileno Lopes for the bantamweight title.
In the remainder of the main card, Stefan Struve beat Rodrigo Nogueira by unanimous decision, Big Foot Silva knocked out Soa Palelei and Claudia Gadelha beat Jessica Aguilar.
