UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will be in the upcoming “Expendables 3” film, according to the movie’s writer and star, Sylvester Stallone.
The actor on late Tuesday night tweeted that Rousey, along with boxing’s Victor Ortiz, will join the cast for the franchise’s third installment.
“Ronda Rousey will show championship form in Expendables 3,” Stallone posted on the social media website.
At this point in her career, Rousey is no stranger to cameras. The 135-pound champion became one of MMA’s biggest stars with her rise through the defunct Strikeforce promotion to becoming part of the UFC’s first-ever women’s fight in the Octagon. In the same bout, Rousey earned the promotion’s first women’s title when she defeated Liz Carmouche at UFC 157.
Rousey spent her most recent weeks recording the 18th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” coaching opposite to old rival Miesha Tate. The season is set to premiere Sept. 4, and the two are expected to meet in a rematch as the co-main event at UFC 168 on Dec. 28.
Rousey’s manager, Darin Harvey, declined comment on the matter when contacted by GRACIEMAG.com.
“Expendables 3” is scheduled for release on Aug. 15, 2014, according to IMDB.com.
