UFC Middleweight Champion and LiveToFight.org board member Chris Weidman will host “Grappling Cancer,” a no-gi Jiu-Jitsu seminar, at the iconic GMA Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City on Sunday, Oct. 27. All proceeds from the seminar will benefit LiveToFight.org, a charitable organization established to raise support for fighters and their loved ones who have been affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
In addition to Weidman, special guest instructors for “Grappling Cancer” will include UFC lightweight contender Jim Miller and BJJ legend Renzo Gracie.
“This is a great cause and I’m honored to be able to be a part of LiveToFight.org,” says Weidman. “It’s a pleasure to be able to help in any way I can.”
LiveToFight.org was established in 2013 by two-time cancer survivor Kristen Brown. Brown has seen the impact of the illness claim the lives of friends in the martial arts community and has made it her life’s work to assist combat sports practitioners and their families with support from LiveToFight.org.
“I’ve experienced the ugliest parts of this disease and seen firsthand the toll it has taken on those around me in the marital arts community,” says Brown. “I’ve also seen our community come together in ways I never expected. Through LiveToFight.org, we can help martial artists and their families tackle the biggest fight of their lives. We are in this together.”
Tickets to participate in the no-gi seminar are $90 and can be purchased exclusively at LiveToFight.org or in-person at all East Coast MMA fight shops. All proceeds will go directly to fighters and their families who are dealing with life-threatening illnesses.
