Rafael Mendes of GMA Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy and Gianni Grippo of GMA Marcelo Garcia Academy both traveled to Lisbon, Portugal on short notice to compete in the 2014 IBJJF European Jiu-Jitsu Championship. In the featherweight category they met in the semi-final match.
