This Tuesday, UFC president Dana White will be in Rio de Janeiro to officially announce the card for UFC 142 and provide details regarding ticket sales for the January 14 event at the HSBC Arena. Tickets should go on sale this Wednesday.
Once UFC 140 came to a close in Toronto, Canada, the all-powerful UFC boss told MMAWeekly website that Brazil will host another event in mid May. “How many events in Brazil will there be next yet. At this point, I don’t know, but we have two coming up. We’ll do this one in Rio then another probably in May.
The second event could take place at a soccer stadium, and all signs point to it being Morumbi stadium in São Paulo. As a main event, Anderson Silva puts his title on the line against the winner between Chael Sonnen and Mark Muñoz at UFC on Fox 2, coming up January 28 in Chicago.
According to Rio de Janeiro secretary of tourism Antonio Pedro Figueira de Mello and information released by the company handling the UFC in the country, IMX, another UFC Rio will be held in October.
Dana White is also visiting the South American country to join in the selection process for TUF Brazil, a Brazilian version of the The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Posted on the UFC website (http://br.ufc.com/TUF-Application-Brazil) are the names of the 328 candidates for the 16 spots on the program. Among them are solid names from Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, like featherweights Alexandre Pulga, Eduardo Pachu, Hacran Dias, Andrezinho Nogueira, Renato Moicano, Marcos Vinisius, Pepey, Pedro Nobre and Rony Jason.
At middleweight, Antonio Braga Neto, Caio Magalhães, André Chatuba, Arthur Gogó, Carlos Galvão, Daniel Acácio, Delson Pé de Chumbo, Edilberto Crocotá, Eduardo Telles, Francisco Massaranduba, Kiko France, Gil de Freitas, Zezão Trator and Vitor Miranda are all on the list.
